Naturalcooling Ltd have provided design advice and dynamic thermal performance analysis for a new secondary school designed by Mario Cucinella Architects for Gaza, Palestine, in close collaboration with UNWRA. This investigation focused on thermal comfort in the classrooms, the role of a ventilated roof covering and the performance of natural stack and cross ventilation, to provide thermal comfort and avoid the need for supplementary heating and cooling.
The project is a response to the mounting environmental, energy and infrastructure crisis within the Gaza Strip. The ambition is to provide a better learning environment for the children of Gaza, while also being self reliant in terms of electricity and water requirements.
